Greetings McKinley Students and Families...

Greetings McKinley Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!  It is hard to believe that the summer is over and a new school year will begin shortly.  We are excited to reconnect with our students and meet new Trainers who will be joining the McKinley family.   We plan to have our best year yet, and look forward to strengthening our partnership with families to ensure each and every student finds success.   Our goal is to provide opportunities for every student to be an integral part of McKinley school culture where we are committed to academic success, involvement in extracurricular activities, and representing the “McKinley Way”.

You will have the opportunity to meet the faculty at our Back-To-School event on Thursday, September 7th from 6-8pm.  You will have the opportunity to visit your child’s classroom, begin to form a relationship with the classroom teacher, as well as learn about the grade level curriculum, classroom technology, and activities.

Throughout the community, there is an incredible level of excitement as everyone makes final preparations for the arrival of our McKinley scholars.  It is with the same care, enthusiasm, and commitment that we approach the instruction.  As the people you have entrusted with the education of your child, we continue our focus on developing a strong educational program that addresses each child’s social, emotional and academic needs.  We promote an educational environment that engages the students in meaningful work so that they develop the critical skills necessary to become independent, responsible, and productive citizens.

Schedule Changes:

Student schedules were made available this week.   Schedule concerns can be addressed with your counselor during LUNCH or AFTER SCHOOL.  Students should ask their advisor for a copy of the “Schedule Change” form.  Counselor will handle all requests throughout the next two weeks (please be patient).  Students will get a new schedule every day in advisory in case the schedule changes.  We will only allow schedule changes for the following reasons:

  1. a student attended summer school and passed a course that is currently on their schedule.
  2. a student has secured an internship to replace a non-core class.
  3. a student (senior) is missing a class needed for graduation or college admissions.
  4. a student was placed in a class without completing the required pre-requisite course.

Contact your child’s counselor if you have any questions.  The counseling suite is located at the end of the hallway on the 2nd floor: last door on the left (278):
