The integration of technology into all appropriate components of the operation of the school is a cornerstone of McKinley Technology High School. This has been enabled through the technology infrastructure built into the facility. The infrastructure has been designed to provide ubiquitous access to data and video.

Highlights of the digital infrastructure include:
  • A high speed data feed to the facility (OC12=622 Mbps)
  • A high speed Wi-Fi throughout the facility (802.11g wireless LAN = 54Mbs)
  • Gigabit speed to all LAN connections by a combination of fiber cable connecting to reboxes in or near the classrooms switching to Cat 5E cable to the ethernet ports
  • 30-40 ethernet ports per classroom distributed along the walls and in floor boxes
  • Data ports in all common areas, offices, and student support areas
  • Use of Voice over IP (VoIP) telephony
Highlights of the coaxial cable video infrastructure include:
  • Cable drops in every classroom with cable, S-video, and RCA speaker plugs in a high/low video port arrangement
  • A cable drop in every built-in teacher station
  • Two-way amplifiers for the co-ax system to allow for reception and broadcasting capability from any location in the facility
