On Monday, August 16, 2010 the McKinley staff and faculty returned to school to open the year! With a focus on building our science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) curricula and continuing our master teacher program, teachers and staff engaged in professional development and operations training to welcome the students on the 23rd.
McKinley has much to celebrate as it begins another school year. Our students reached their highest performance levels on the DC CAS ever with 76% testing proficient/advanced in math and 72% testing proficient/advanced in reading! Our goal this year is to move this to 90%!
The class of 2010 is on their way to college including some very prestigious universities: Princeton, Stanford and George Washington! And one of our seniors, Elzabad Kennedy is in his first year of the Bill Gates Millennium Scholarship, which will pay his tuition through his PhD!
McKinley is looking to build on this success as we continue to march towards our vision of becoming the highest performing STEM school in the nation!
