MCKINLEY TECHNOLOGY HIGH SCHOOL

Network IT at McKinley Technology High School

The Network IT pathway provides a rigorous technical education, equipping students with essential skills in computer systems, infrastructure, and troubleshooting. Our program prepares the next generation of technology professionals through hands-on learning and industry alignment.

A+ by sophomore year

Students have the opportunity to earn the CompTIA A+ Certification during their sophomore year, building an early credential in IT support and hardware fundamentals.

Next step: ATC

Students can extend their learning through the Advanced Technical Center, which offers dual-credit CTE pathways and access to additional industry credentials.

What students learn

Core technical preparation

The Network IT pathway introduces students to computer hardware, system maintenance, device configuration, troubleshooting, and the practical habits needed in help desk and support environments. The program is designed to help students grow from foundational knowledge into confident problem-solvers who can work with real-world technology systems.

By gaining the CompTIA A+ Certification during the sophomore year, students can validate their technical skills early and strengthen their readiness for advanced study, internships, and future IT roles.

Citywide access

The ATC was created to remove barriers to Career and Technical Education and allows students to stay enrolled in their home high school while participating in advanced programs.

Advanced Technical Center (ATC)

Students can extend their learning journey at the Advanced Technical Center (ATC), where they access high-tech labs and specialized equipment. This extension allows for deeper specialization in cybersecurity, networking, and advanced systems administration beyond the standard curriculum.

Expanding Access

A $4.1 million Career Connected High School Grant is actively expanding access to the ATC, ensuring more students can benefit from top-tier technical training and career-aligned resources.
