Admissions Requirements:

9th and 10th Grade
• 2.75 minimum GPA in core subjects (Math, Science, Social Studies, and English); 3.0 GPA Preferred
• Scored a "Met Expectations" (4) or "Exceeded Expectations" (5) on each section of the PARCC exam or another state-mandated test (Official score report needed)
• Good character, behavior, and attendance/timeliness
• Essay
• Interview

11th Grade
• 3.0 minimum GPA in core subjects (Math, Science, Social Studies, and English)
• Completed Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry
• Completed 1 Advanced Placement course
• Scored a "Met Expectations" (4) or "Exceeded Expectations" (5) on each section of the PARCC exam or another state-mandated test (Official score report needed)
• Good character, behavior, and attendance/timeliness
• Essay
• Interview


Application requirements
• 9th Grade Applicants: Final 7th grade report card and current 8th grade report card
• 10th Grade Applicants: Final 8th grade report card and current 9th grade report card
• 11th Grade Applicants: High School Transcript
• Official score report for PARCC exam or another state-mandated test
• Essay
• 3 Letters of Recommendation (English teacher, Math teacher, and Counselor)

Essay Question:
Directions (Please respond in 300 words or less): At the current moment, what matters most to you and why?
(Note: You should select something of substance that you can speak to if you are selected to interview)

How to Apply:
All students must submit a complete application, online, at www.myschooldc.org by February 1, 2018, in order to be considered for admission. (Note: Any falsified information submitted on behalf of a student will render an application ineligible.)

Student Interviews:
Select students who meet our admissions criteria will be invited to complete an interview at McKinley. The interviews will be conducted by current McKinley staff and students. Applicants who are invited to interview will be contacted, by email, about next steps to confirm their interview date and time.

Student Admittance:
Students who meet our admissions criteria are admitted based on their application, interview, and lottery status. Please note that students must maintain the same academic profile under which they were admitted.
